Kirsten E. Teklits, LCSW
Therapy for Adults, Families & Teens
About
Kirsten E. Teklits
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During my graduate studies, I focused on the treatment of substance abuse and trauma working with substance abusing adolescents and their families. I have over 10 years of experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, PTSD and substance abuse. In my clinical practice, I principally provide cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to treat adults and adolescents with diverse mental health problems but I also utilize other evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment modalities based on each client’s specific challenges. These additional treatment modalities include but are not limited to motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and mindfulness. I am also a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist and have successfully used EMDR to accelerate the treatment of reprocessing painful traumatic memories.

My goal is to educate and motivate my clients and to help them change their unhelpful thoughts and behaviors so that they can live a happier life that is consistent with their values. I also enjoy coaching educators to understand children’s challenging behaviors through a Trauma-Informed Lens.
